About Us

The Office of Institutional Research (IR) reports on a variety of data to support the University in its efforts of accountability, internal reporting, decision making, improvement and planning. Our web page provides data on student enrollment by a variety of demographics, by major, department and college, by student level, as well as by full- and part-time status. Reports on continuation and graduation and the number and types of degrees conferred can also be found here. Finally, survey results and analytical studies of student success, including retention, remediation and probation, can be found on our page. Greg Dubrow

Greg Dubrow is the Director of Institutional Research.  Prior to coming to SF State he was the Director of Research and Policy Analysis, at UC Berkeley’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions from June 2005 to November 2018. At UC Berkeley Greg was responsible for high-level data and policy analysis for undergraduate admissions, preparing analytical reports and briefs for admissions operations, faculty, senior administrative leadership and for media requests.
Prior to coming to UC Berkeley, Greg spent four years as an assistant professor of higher education in the College of Education at Florida International University in Miami, FL.

Greg’s primary research interests are college choice and educational access and equity, and a general interest in organizational leadership, culture and operations.  Greg has a Ph.D. and M.S.Ed in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania. His dissertation examined the role of institutional culture on curricular change at three universities. He also has a B.A. in Film/Media Studies from Temple University.

Eva Allen

Eva Allen is a research analyst in the Office of Institutional Research. She has worked in the field of institutional research for over 15 years, all of which have been with San Francisco State University. She is responsible for managing all primary IR datasets, and using these data to meet both internal and external informational needs. Additionally, she completes all annual institutional reports and university profiles and serves as the campus’ IPEDS Keyholder. She has a research background in telecommunications.

Emily Shindledecker

Emily Shindledecker is a senior institutional research analyst in the Office of Institutional Research. She has worked in the field of institutional research for over seven years, both in the public and private sector. She is responsible for administering & analyzing surveys, conducting statistical analysis, creating interactive Excel dashboards, designing infographics, and training and supervising research assistants. She received her Master of Science Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino. 

Jerrod Nelson

Jerrod Nelson is a graduate research assistant in the Office of Institutional Research. He is scheduled to work with our office over the course of the 2018-19 academic year. Jerrod is responsible for conducting analyses on the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) data. Additionally, Jerrod works with various academic departments on an ad hoc basis to provide student data. Jerrod is expected to receive a Master of Science Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from San Francisco State University in May 2019.
